The Lessons of Life Series: Introduction

In this series I want to share with you what life has taught me. Life is a master teacher, the world is her classroom, and you, I, and the rest of humanity are her students.  Just like any institutions of higher learning, there are lessons that must be learned and mastered before there is promotion. If tests are not passed, and worked not done there will be no progress, and you will be stuck in spiritual special education.

I spent many years in special education, due to fail attempts to learn what  life was trying to convey to me. Even though I kept doing the same thing repeatedly and getting the same results, I still couldn’t seem to understand why I kept experiencing the same situation over and over again.  It wasn’t until I was at the end of myself, and I needed something higher than myself, that finally put an end to the chaos that was my life.  It took much pain, heartache, and hurt to make me turn to the only true source of happiness, peace, and contentment. The end of my self imposed hell was not found in a religion, church, mosque, or synagogue. It was found in God, thru the love of His son Jesus. Surrendering my life and will to Him, helped me to understand myself and the world around me.

I am like the Apostle Paul, “Not that I have already obtained all of this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.  Brothers and Sisters, I do not consider myself yet to taken hold of it.  But this one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.” Philippians 3:12-13

Romans 12:2

One of the biggest problems we face as a people, is that we don’t know who we are, and we do not know who to turn to, to find the truth. Instead of seeking the Creator in our quest to find our identity,we have allowed society, our conditions, and the perceptions of others, inform us of who they think we are, and have accepted their versions of who they think we are as truth.

The problem with allowing the creation to define us, is that the creation is at best schizophrenic, and at its worse insane. One only has to watch a few minutes of reality t.v., or go on any social media platform and see the validity of the above statement. Better yet, listen to the people who are around you as they converse amongst themselves, or listen to the thoughts you think, and the words you speak.

Stabilized

We are unstable in all our ways because our foundation of who we are is built on the quicksand of creation, instead of being built on the steady secure rock of Jesus. Anything that is not built on the steady secure rock of Jesus will eventually crumble and fall.

The Bible teaches, that unless the Lord build the house, the laborers labor in vain. Do you understand that anything built by creation has to be constantly repaired? However, the things that are built by God, that hasn’t been contaminated by man, has never once needed repair. When have you ever heard that the moon or stars are broken, and in need of repair or be updated?  When has the earth ever gotten out of alignment as it spins in its orbits?

Purpose

The purpose of this website is to be a safe haven for hurting people, and to edify the body of Christ.  It is not about likes, or who picture is where, or about who is on what committee. It is about sharing the message of salvation and the life, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and  Savior Jesus Christ.

The focus of this website will be shifting from posting pictures to posting content that will be food for the spirit.  The intended audience of this website, are people who hunger and thirst after righteousness. If you are one who knows that you need real spiritual food, because you have a devil to fight, love ones to intercede for, and a God who is not just the head of your life, He is your life, we welcome you.  If you are one who is not seeking to grow in your spirituality and in your Christian character this may not be the place for you.

In the coming weeks we will be digging deeper into Pastor Daniel’s sermon, “Don’t Waste This Year!” With articles and PowerPoint presentations, that will cover such topics as a: wasteful mindset, putting first thing first, purpose, etc., just to  name a few. We invite you to join us as we grow into actually becoming doers of the word and not just hearers of the word.

The vision of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church is, “Affecting Lives to Effect Communities.” I pose the question, how can we pursue the vision, when we are wasting time, energy, and resources, on things that that are unprofitable?
